Can I have some more Peanut Butter Panna Cotta, Gov'ner?
I went to the Modern Pantry because I had heard about McLeary, the head chef, from a friend of mine that works in the restaurant business. I have to say... I was very impressed! The first thing I fell in love with was the old brick building the restaurant is located in, the contrast between the classic and simple exterior and the modern design of the interior is veryyy interesting and pleasant. But enough about that, let's talk food! I started with a spinach and pea soup, which was lovely, and went on to eat the spiced Persian lamb with winter greens. For dessert, I had peanut butter panna cotta that was so nicely arranged I almost hesitated before stuffing my face with its peanut buttery goodness. I ate there with two friends, so I got to try a pretty wide range of dishes (generally when they left the table- don't judge! I was so hungry I felt like some orphan from a Dickens story). The food was great, but the noise and the commotion was annoying, which is why I generally hate popular restaurants. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but good company and good food generally go together with good times... so there you go.
